Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1, Patiala Cantt. is a prestigious vidyalaya, not only the Chandigarh Region but also in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan as a whole. Year after year, it is achieving excellence in academics, games and sports, co-curricular activities and many other activities. It has been selected as one of the model schools by KVS New Delhi. It is also a ‘Smart Vidyalaya’ to impart computer education to neighbouring schools. Like other KVs it is affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi. Established in 1974, at Rajpura, it was shifted to Patiala Cantt. in July, 1975.
